Ingredients

500g beef mince
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tsp thyme leaves, finely chopped
Sea salt and cracked black pepper
2 tbsp olive oil

To serve:
4 Gallaghers Bakehouse Gourmet or Brioche Burger buns
4 Rashers
A sliver of carrot
75g Cheddar Cheese, sliced
Lettuce leaf
Ketchup, optional

Duration: 25 mins
METHOD
  • For the burger, combine the minced beef, Dijon, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, ketchup, thyme, salt and pepper in a large bowl and mix until everything is evenly combined. Divide into 4 and shape into patties. Place a large pan on a medium high heat and add the 1 tbsp of oil.
  • Fry the rasher for 2-3 minutes on either side or until nice and crisp, set aside. Reduce the heat to medium and place the burger patties in the pan, fry for 6 minutes on either side or until cooked through and browned. Once cooked, top with the cheese and cover with a cloche or lid for 3-4 minutes until the cheese is oozing and melted.
  • Place the bottom of the toasted bun onto a plate, smear with the relish and mayo, add the lettuce, sliver of carrot top with the burger with melted cheese, crisp bacon rasher, followed by the burger bun top.
